Mental Health Risk Management and Planning

Mental health risk planning is the process of identifying potential risks to an individual's mental well-being and developing strategies to manage or mitigate those risks. This plan typically involves assessing factors that could trigger mental health crises, such as stressors or past trauma, and creating a proactive approach to prevent or address these issues. It may include coping strategies, support networks, emergency contacts, and professional resources to ensure the person receives timely help and can maintain stability during difficult times.

Safety Planning around Self Harm and Suicidality

Self-harm and suicidal risk planning involve creating a structured plan to help individuals at risk of self-injury or suicide manage their thoughts and behaviours safely. This plan typically includes identifying triggers, warning signs, and specific coping strategies to use when experiencing distress. It also outlines a support network of trusted individuals, such as family, friends, or mental health professionals, who can offer immediate help. Additionally, the plan may include crisis intervention steps, emergency contacts, and access to professional resources to ensure the individual remains safe and supported during vulnerable moments.

Self Care For Professionals

Supporting others can be deeply rewarding, but it can also take a toll. Professionals working in health, social care, education, and community roles are at risk ofvicarious trauma, burnout, and compassion fatigue. These challenges can affect wellbeing, relationships, and the ability to provide high-quality care.

At My Mind Matters CIC, we emphasise the importance of self-care as a vital part of professional practice. Through reflective spaces, workshops, and tailored wellbeing strategies, we help professionals build resilience, manage stress, and maintain balance. Prioritising self-care not only protects mental health but also sustains the energy and compassion needed to continue supporting others.

Clinical supervision

Self-care is an essential practice for maintaining physical, emotional, and mental well-being, especially for professionals. These individuals are at risk of vicarious trauma, which occurs when they experience emotional distress from empathetically engaging with others' traumatic experiences. To mitigate the impact of vicarious trauma and ensure effective care for both the professional and the people they work with, clinical supervision is critical. It provides a structured, reflective space for professionals to process their emotions, receive guidance, and practice self-care strategies, promoting resilience and ethical practice in their work.

Whether in a team or individual setting, these sessions help to reframe challenges, build resilience, and strengthen connections to one’s personal narrative.
